The story behind the name
Abraham is the shared patriarch of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The Dutch clipped it to Bram, and by the twentieth century Bram was fully independent of the name it came from.
Its best-known bearer internationally is the Irish writer Bram Stoker, born Abraham, who published Dracula in 1897.
Bram has been in the Dutch top twenty for boys since the 1990s and is one of the small set of Dutch names - with Daan, Finn and Luuk - that defines the modern sound.
